I started tracking down this new show called Defying Gravity that's coming out on August 2nd. The show is produced by a few networks, but is shot here in Vancouver.
Visually looks pretty cinematic based on the commercials, that's probably due to the fact the Stargate Visual Effects team is doing all the CGI.
I'm looking forward to see it............for the sake of colour correction!
By the way, anyone going to the 80's Diner this Friday? I'll probably show up with my lantern.
Don't think we'll make Eighties tonight, since we were already there once this week. Mike the waiter got a good laugh out of it. Did a double take..."But, it's not Friday?!"
We're thinking of an addition to the BIFF schedule for August 21st which might be a perfect opportunity for your lantern! Public Dreams Society doesn't just put on Illuminares, they also put on the Wild Lights Lantern Festival at Edgemont Village, and this year it falls on a Friday! So whey not do an early dinner at Eighties and then wander up to Edgemont?

I've been enjoying Defying Gravity. It strikes me as somewhat similar to Battlestar Galactica, with lots of conflicting motivations going on. I find I really have to pay attention, just to figure out what's going on. Then again, it's near future, so I guess it's sort of the love child of BSG and, say, 2001: A Space Oddyssey. (Well, okay, there is a bit of similarity in ship design to the ship in Sunshine, but so far, the story hasn't made me cringe with scientific howlers, and so far, they have done nicely in developing characters without killing people off as soon as they distinguish themselves from the pack. So yeah, I'm liking it.
In the latest episode, there's something going on with Pod 4 on board the ship, something about "Beta", that's been giving the crew hallucinations. It's not the on board computer ( like HAL) for sure.
